Over 44 years of comprehensive professional experience as a technology services and development manager with a track record of successful problem solving in the electric utility sector. Broad electric utility technology expertise including transmission and distribution systems, substation equipment performance, specification, and design, substation automation, power quality, substation on-line monitoring, high voltage and high power laboratory tests, power transformer tests, power system analysis, traction power systems, wind farm generation, and electromagnetic transient simulation studies. Extensive experience as an instructor and lecturer. Senior Supervising Engineer involved with electromagnetic transient simulation studies, HVDC schemes, power system modeling, filter design, power quality, and harmonic impedance analyses.

Prepared voltage sourced converter (VSC) Technical Memorandum for the ±500 kV, 2500 MW Manitoba Hydro Bipole III HVDC Transmission System.

Conducted pre-tank inspections and witnessed electrical tests at the Virginia Transformer Corporation plant for the 75 MVA power transformers for Central Power Electric Cooperative Inc.

Performed system studies to determine the impact of Geomagnetically Induced Currents (GIC) on the Suncor Energy network. Also carried out transformer reactive power losses for the Suncor Energy network.

Developed a method of eliminating dc current components in the secondary of converter power transformer of a hybrid ± 250 kV HVDC / 230 kV ac transmission system.

Prepared plan and specifications, assisted with tendering process, administered and inspected construction contract, and involved with commissioning of high voltage laboratory facilities with a total budget of US$50 million.

Provided original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers with problem-solving support and development of new products, including power transformers, circuit breakers, instrument transformers, metal clad switchgears, surge arresters, and other major equipment.

Designed and supervised construction of new laboratory facilities, which allowed high voltage testing to be performed within the country and contributed to savings of approximately US$5 million per year.

Performed laboratory testing and coordinated all aspects of operations for the High Voltage Laboratory Division, including power transformers, circuit breakers, surge arresters, and other major equipment tests. Directed and supervised staff in the implementation of high voltage test procedures and projects. Ensured compliance with international standards.
